ARAB-US RELATIONSHIP
Sometimes, I wonder why we, in Arab States, hate the foreign policy of the United States of America, and I realize that the US politics are the main cause for hatred and animosity.
Less than a decade ago, the United States occupied Iraq under the pretext that Saddam Hussein of Iraq was developping nuclear and chemical weapons. This allegation turned a fallacy and nonesense.
The War on Iraq and Afghanistan harmed the US economy and the world's economy as a whole, more that 7 thousand American soldiers and civilians were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, allied countries also lost hundreds of soldiers.
needless to mention the huge financial burdens incurred by both wars.
I am sure both main allies the United States and Britain regret the war especially against Iraq. Saddam has been an emblematic leader for many of Arabs in the Middles East and North Africa, and other peoples who aspire for freedom.
Saddam Hussein had a vision and a plan to unite the Arab states even by using force, this was not commended by large number of people, but Saddam's supporters saw in the annexation of Kuwait a step toward the uinification of the Arab states, supporters do not care about the person of Saddam Hussein, they care about the unity of the Arab states, every Arab person wishes that the Arab dream becomes true one day; it is the unity of the Arab states.
I cannot find any word how to defend America before who criticise it.
I admire the advancement and civilized lifestyle of the UNited States but I cannot defend its foreign policy, and that is lamentable!
I like to go to the States for study because I like and respect the American people and their heroism, at the same time, I do not accept that the free world be harmed by terrorists by any means. But have we asked ourselves why these people became terrorists? I know that nothing on earth justifies terror and violence but nothing justifies occupation and killing of innocent people indiscriminately in Palestine, Afghanistan.
